The Rottweiler breed: An short overview

A short explaination of the Rottweiler breed

The Rottweiler is a medium to large size breed of domestic dogs that are originally from Rottweil, Germany. The dogs were actually known as “Rottweil butchers’ dogs” (German: Rottweiler Metzgerhund) because they were used to herd livestock and pull carts laden with butchered meat and other products to the market area. Some records indicate that earlier Rottweilers may have also been used for hunting; there attacks were fatal, although the modern Rottweiler has a relatively low hunting instinct.

Typically, rottweiler puppies and adults were usually employed in their traditional roles until the mid-19th century when the railroads replaced droving for getting livestock to market.  Although it is a versatile breed of dog used in recent times for a variety of purposes, the Rottweiler is primarily known as one of the oldest herding breeds among dogs.

Modern uses for the Rottweiler Breed

A multi-faceted and intelligent herding and stock protection dog, rottweiler puppies remain capable of working all kinds of livestock under a variety of conditions.  While they are still used in herding to this day, Rottweilers are now also used in search and rescue work, as guide dogs for the blind, as guard or police dogs, and in other roles useful to human beings.

So, you’re looking for a purebred, 100% authentic German Rottweiler for yourself and your family if you have one. How do you know you’re talking to an authentic, knowledgeable breeder? Many Rottweiler breeders, for example, do not test each dog’s temperament or trace its original origins. These “backyard breeders” as they’re often referred to as by real professionals, may be giving you the wrong type of dog for your needs.

Adding purpose to your new German Rottweiler Puppies life

The Rottweiler form is the same, but the function has changed

You may not know it by looking at the stocky, tough exterior of the average Rottweiler, but they were originally bred for herding livestock. Unlike Border Collies, Aussie Shepherds and other typical herding breeds we see today, the Rottweiler used its intimidating wiles to will livestock in the direction they wanted them to go.

Regardless of the purpose of new German Rottweiler Puppies, or at least what the dog was used for many years ago, German Rottweilers are just eager to please. Whether you’re living in the heart of Midtown Atlanta or you are in a suburban area, you and your Rottweiler puppy will have plenty of things to do.

Provide your Rottweiler Puppy with a regular exercise routine that he/she can view as his/her job

It’s important to remember that purebred German Rottweiler puppies have an innate need to work, so make sure you exercise your Rottie puppy frequently and stimulate its mind by teaching it new tricks. Another good way to make your dog feel like its working is appeal to its need to pull things by getting a doggie backpack and weighing it down with some soup cans or bottles of water. This way the dog will feel like it’s doing something important!

Rottweiler Puppies: Great Children-Friendly Pets

Our Rottweiler Puppies are our children’s babysitters and best friends

At first glance a Rottweiler dog in excess of 100 pounds towering over a little toddler may not seem like the safest idea, but when it comes to a purebred 100% German Championship ADRK Rottweiler, it’s called a babysitter!

Rottweiler puppies are inherently protective so one of the best things about having a guard breed around your toddler is the safety you will feel. Your Rottweiler will protect and ward off any ill-willing strangers and also protect it from other animals if need be.

Rottweiler Puppy Testing is the key to the right friend for your family

The way we make absolutely sure that our Rottweiler puppies will get along with your children is because at AtlantaHaus we have our own toddlers and each puppy out of a litter must be able to so they can play around our children as well. That, combined with our Volhard Rottweiler Puppy Aptitude Test, over 40 years of kennel experience, and imprinting (training the dog to be obedient toward humans without breaking its spirit) ensures that your puppy will be the perfect compliment to your family and your small children.

Why You Should Adopt a Rottie Puppy

Rottweilers make the choice of which breed to have in you home easy

There are many reasons to adopt a Rottweiler Puppy for your home; besides the fact that they’re gorgeous, loving, strong, courageous, and active there are many other reasons you may not have considered.

For example, Rottweiler Puppies are highly trainable. If trained from an early age, Rotties can become attune to a variety of tasks. They can pull your toddler around in a wagon, or they can grab the remote for you when you don’t want to get up. Rottweiler puppies love to have a job to do, and finding things for them to do is just part of the fun!

Rottweilers also allow you to know that your family is safe in your home

Another reason is that Rottweiler puppies are an excellent guard breed. This is not to say that you should treat your Rottie puppy badly from birth so it turns out to be a mean, vicious junkyard dog defending your home from invaders. On the contrary, the Rottweiler breed is a natural guard breed that, when sensing an intruder, will protect its Atlanta family at all costs.

Purebred German Rottweiler Puppies Are Far More Stable

It is unfair that Purebred German Rottweiler Puppies are being cast in with the lot of poorly bred Rottweilers

Yes, you’ve heard the horror stories of the Rottweiler breed, but what many people don’t understand is that many rottweiler puppies for sale are from “backyard breeders”, or mixed in nature.  In addition to that, many of them are just not trained or socialized correctly.

Also we condition our dogs from an early age to submit to humans without breaking their spirit (we want them to be the lovable pup they should be) and we also apply the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test to determine the right temperament for you and your home.

All of this makes for a more stable and predictable member of your family and companion to your lifestyle.
